The SAM Design 2024 Year in Review

As 2024 draws to a close, we at SAM Design are thrilled to reflect on a year filled with remarkable achievements and milestones. Here’s a glimpse into some of our proudest moments:

STELLA’S BRASSERIE

This year, we had the privilege of transforming the former Hungry Heart Café space into a new home for Stella’s Brasserie, a project close to our hearts. With a very short timeline, and with some help from our incredible community of partners, our team pulled together a stunning space for Stella’s that we couldn’t be more proud of. Read more on our Stella’s Brasserie project here.

Beyond the joy of bringing this space to life, we were deeply honoured for Susan to receive an Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer Award from the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Fundraising Professionals on National Philanthropy Day. The nomination from Stella’s Circle and the award were both unexpected and humbling. The beautiful video created by the Stella’s team showcased the collaboration and dedication from our SAMily and many other community members who worked tirelessly to make Stella’s Brasserie a reality.

Serving as a member of the Stella’s Circle Foundation Board has brought incredible personal rewards for Susan, and we’re thrilled to be part of their ongoing journey. A heartfelt thank you to Stella’s Circle, and everyone involved. We look forward to continuing this meaningful work together in the New Year and beyond.

SAM IN THE MEDIA

Susan Drover’s stunning downtown St. John’s home was featured on the cover of House & Home’s September 2024 issue, a testament to her dedication to design excellence. Plus, for the second consecutive year, Susan and the SAM Design team were named in House & Home’s H&H 100, a prestigious list of Canada’s top design talent.

SAM and Susan were also honoured to be featured in Saltscapes Magazine, highlighting our commitment to bringing exceptional design to Canada’s East Coast.

We unveiled newly renovated rooms at the historic Dvele Inn in 2023, and in 2024, further updated Rooms 6 and 7 on the top floor. Each space is thoughtfully curated with our favorite SAM furnishings, offering guests a unique, design-focused stay.

We expanded our SAMily with the addition of two talented designers:

Katie Benson, a powerhouse Interior Designer with a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating harmonious spaces. Learn more about Katie here.

Peyton Hammond, an Interior Designer and trained Architectural Technologist, bringing a blend of creative design and technical expertise to our projects. Meet Peyton here.

We worked closely with our photography partner Jane Brokenshire, to capture countless stunning photos of our client projects

We completed one of our favourite projects to date, a collaboration with clients turned friends, John and Joanne. We’re eager to share more about this in the New Year, so stay tuned for an in-depth look at this exceptional endeavour.

And finally —

We’re gearing up to launch BUILD by SAM, an extension of our showroom. This new Build Center will offer a comprehensive range of products, providing a holistic home experience for our clients. More to come on our official opening in 2025!

Reflecting on these accomplishments, we’re filled with gratitude for our clients, partners, and the entire SAMily. Your support and collaboration have been instrumental in making 2024 a year to remember. We eagerly anticipate the opportunities and creative challenges that 2025 will bring.

Here’s to another wonderful and exciting year ahead!

Warmest wishes,
